AP EAMCET Counselling Process

AP EAMCET counselling is conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) through its web counselling portal. The process is entirely online and typically begins 3-4 weeks after result declaration.

Note: Candidates from reserved categories (SC/ST/BC/EWS/PH) must ensure their caste and income certificates are issued by a competent authority in Andhra Pradesh to avail category-based reservations during counselling.

  • Registration & Fee Payment: Candidates must register on the official APSCHE web counselling portal (apeamcet.nic.in). A non-refundable registration fee (approximately ₹1,200 for OC/BC and ₹600 for SC/ST) is paid online. Upload scanned copies of required documents at this stage.
  • Certificate Verification: Candidates must get their certificates verified at the nearest Help Line Centre (HLC) before exercising choices. Required documents include Hall Ticket, Rank Card, SSC & Intermediate Marksheets, Caste Certificate (if applicable), Income Certificate, and Local/Non-Local status proof (Residence Certificate for 7 years in AP).
  • Choice Filling & Locking: After verification, candidates log in to the portal to fill and prioritize their preferred college-course combinations. Choices can be edited until the last day of the window; after the deadline, you must lock your choices. Unlocked choices are auto-locked by the system.
  • Seat Allotment - Round 1: Seats are allotted based on rank, category, local/non-local status, and choices filled. Allotment results are published on the portal. Candidates must log in to view their allotted seat.
  • Freeze / Float / Slide Option: After Round 1 allotment, candidates select one of three options - Freeze (accept and stop), Float (accept but seek a better option in the same college), or Slide (accept but seek any better option in subsequent rounds).
  • Fee Payment at Allotted College: Candidates who accept the allotment must pay the tuition fee (partial or full, as specified) online to confirm their seat. Failure to pay within the deadline forfeits the seat.
  • Subsequent Rounds (Round 2 & Spot Admissions): APSCHE typically conducts 2 regular rounds followed by a spot admission round to fill vacant seats. Only candidates with Float/Slide options or those not yet allotted a seat participate.
  • Reporting to College: After final allotment, candidates must report to the allotted institution with original documents for physical verification and admission confirmation within the specified reporting date.

AP EAMCET is a 160-question paper to be solved in 180 minutes - that's just over 1 minute per question. Start attempting previous year papers (2019-2024) from November onwards. Use the official APSCHE practice tests portal for computer-based practice. Aim to attempt at least 25 full-length practice tests before the exam. Analyze each mock for time per section and accuracy, not just score.

AP EAMCET-Specific Tips

  • There is no negative marking - attempt every question. Never leave a question blank.
  • The exam follows the AP Intermediate (Class 12) syllabus strictly; NCERT is sufficient for concept-building but always cross-check with the official AP Board textbooks.
  • Questions in AP EAMCET are largely direct-formula based, especially in Physics and Chemistry - speed and accuracy with formulas is more important than deep conceptual derivations.

Exam-Day Tips

Carry a valid photo ID along with your hall ticket. Report to the centre at least 60 minutes before the reporting time. The exam is conducted in two shifts - morning (9 AM) and afternoon (2 PM) - confirm your shift from the hall ticket. Do not waste time on lengthy calculations; use elimination and approximation wherever possible in Mathematics.
