ATMA Counselling Process 2024-2025

Unlike centralised exams such as CAT or XAT, ATMA does not have a single national counselling authority. Admissions based on ATMA scores are managed independently by individual participating institutes, which are primarily AIMS member business schools across India. Note: For ATMA scores used in state-level MBA counselling (e.g., Maharashtra's CET Cell or Karnataka Examinations Authority accepting ATMA), candidates must additionally register on the respective state counselling portal and participate in centralised seat allotment rounds as per state-specific schedules.

• Score Declaration & Scorecard Download: ATMA results are declared within 1-2 weeks of the exam on the official portal atmaaims.com. Candidates log in with their application credentials to download their scorecard, which is valid for all AIMS member institutes for that cycle.
• Application to Participating Institutes: Candidates must separately apply to each B-school they wish to be considered by. Many institutes list their ATMA cutoffs and application deadlines on their individual websites. Common participating institutes include BIMTECH (Greater Noida), IFIM Business School (Bengaluru), IPE Hyderabad, SIES College of Management Studies (Mumbai), and over 200 other AIMS member institutes.
• Shortlisting for GD/PI: Each institute independently shortlists candidates based on their ATMA percentile score (cutoffs typically range from 60-75 percentile for mid-tier institutes). Shortlisted candidates are called for Group Discussion (GD) and/or Personal Interview (PI) rounds, which are conducted at the institute's campus or online.
• Merit List & Offer Letter: After GD/PI, institutes prepare their final merit list considering ATMA score (40-50% weightage), academic profile, work experience, and interview performance. Offer letters are sent via email and the institute's admission portal.
• Document Verification: Candidates must submit attested copies of Class 10 & 12 mark sheets, graduation degree/provisional certificate, category certificate (if applicable), work experience certificates, and passport-size photographs. Originals must be produced for verification at the time of reporting.
• Fee Payment & Seat Confirmation: An admission fee (typically ₹50,000-₹1,00,000 as first instalment) must be paid within the deadline specified in the offer letter to confirm the seat. Failure to pay within the deadline results in forfeiture of the offered seat.
• Reporting to Institute: On the designated date (usually June-July for the May/June ATMA cycles), candidates report to the institute with original documents, paid demand draft/fee receipt, and complete the enrollment formalities including hostel allotment if applicable.

Build a Structured Study Schedule

Manage Negative Marking Carefully

With a -0.25 penalty per wrong answer, avoid random guessing. If you can eliminate two out of four options, attempt the question; otherwise skip. On each 30-question section, leaving 4-5 uncertain questions unattempted is strategically better than guessing and losing marks.

Exam-Day Tips

ATMA is conducted in online (CBT) mode at authorised test centres. Carry your admit card and a valid government-issued photo ID. Reach the centre at least 30 minutes early. Since each section is independently timed, do not try to carry over time from one section to another - manage the 30 minutes per section strictly. Start each section with questions you are most confident about to secure base marks before tackling difficult items.
