NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) is a university-level entrance examination conducted by NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies) for admission to Management & Business programmes across India. Overview

NMAT by GMAC is a computer-based, self-paced management entrance exam conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) on behalf of NMIMS. Candidates applying to other NMAT-accepting institutions should check each university's individual admission timeline, as processes vary. State-level MBA counselling (e.g., DTE Maharashtra's CAP rounds) does not accept NMAT scores - those use MAH-CET.

• Score Declaration & Application: NMAT scores are available immediately after the test. Candidates must separately apply to NMIMS and other accepting colleges (SPJIMR, Xavier University, SRM, VIT, Alliance, ICFAI, etc.) through their individual portals. The NMIMS application window typically closes in January.
• NMIMS Shortlisting: NMIMS Mumbai shortlists candidates based on their best NMAT score (cutoff typically 210+ for MBA Core). Shortlisted candidates are called for the NMIMS Selection Process, which includes a Written Ability Test (WAT) and a Personal Interview (PI) conducted in February-March.
• Choice of Campus: NMIMS has campuses at Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, Indore, Chandigarh, and Dhule. Candidates indicate campus and programme preferences at the time of application. Seat offers are based on composite score (NMAT + WAT + PI + academic profile).
• Offer Letter & Document Verification: Selected candidates receive offer letters via email. Documents required include: Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, graduation degree/transcripts, NMAT scorecard, valid ID proof, caste certificate (if applicable), and passport-size photographs.
• Fee Payment: Candidates must pay the programme confirmation fee (non-refundable) within the deadline specified in the offer letter to secure their seat. For NMIMS Mumbai MBA, this is typically in the range of ₹2-3 lakh as an advance against total fees.
• Reporting & Enrolment: Final reporting to the campus and completion of enrolment formalities (original document submission, medical fitness certificate, anti-ragging undertaking) happens before the commencement of the academic term, usually in June-July.

NMAT cutoff is the minimum score required by candidates to qualify the examination and become eligible for the next stage of admission. Sections and Time Allocation

Question Types and Marking Scheme

All questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options each. NMAT uses a scaled scoring system rather than raw marks - each section is scored on a scale of 12 to 120, and the total score ranges from 36 to 360. Each correct answer contributes to the scaled score. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers, making it advisable to attempt all questions.

Section Time Management

Each section has a strict, independently timed clock. Once a section's time expires, the exam automatically moves to the next section. Candidates cannot revisit a section after leaving it. The Quantitative Skills section receives the most time (52 minutes) reflecting the calculation-intensive nature of its questions. Candidates can reorder questions within a section and skip and return to questions within the allotted time.

Score Validity and Retake Policy

The best score across all attempts in the testing window is considered by NMIMS and other participating institutes. Scaled scores are used for shortlisting, ensuring fairness across testing windows and candidate cohorts.
